Of course, Sartell senior Tom Bearson was disappointed in the wake of his team’s 52-46 loss to Fergus Falls in the Section 8-3A boys basketball semifinals Saturday afternoon at Halenbeck Hall.

But he also had to take his hat off to the fourth-seeded Otters, who rallied from a seven-point deficit in the second half to beat the top-seeded Sabres.

“They kept fighting,” said Bearson, who finished with a game-best 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds. “They stayed in it. They always give us a good game. You have to give them credit. They’re a good team.” …

The Sabres finished their season 17-10 overall.

“They hit some good shots and once we got behind, we had to take a few gambles,” Bearson said. “That led to some baskets for them.”

Junior Brandon Snoberger and senior Tyler Tillotson each finished with nine points for the Sabres.

Senior Austin Rund led Fergus Falls — which fell 50-46 to the Sabres when the two teams met in the regular season on Feb. 11 — with 14 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Matthew Monke finished with 11.

I pulled up this video to watch Sartell's Tom Bearson. All of the articles I have read on him are so true, what an awesome basketball player he was. R.I.P. Tom and may the Lord wrap his arms around your family and friends to provide comfort.
