The Sixes 5th grade Legends won their first game of the new year, and third overall, to extend the season-opening winning streak to 3 games. A 19-point 3rd quarter helped put this one away early. Unselfish play continues to be one of the key ingredients to their early season success, as the boys had a team season-high 9 assists. Seven of the boys set or tied personal bests for the young season. Garrison Earnest led the way, setting season-highs in points (8), assists (5), and steals (8). Jacob Debruijn also set several season highs, including points (14), rebounds (5), and steals (3). Center Logan McMunn hit season-high marks with 12 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 blocked shots, and 2 free-throws made. Point-guard Matthew Sanchez set 2 season-high totals in points (7) and steals (4), but will likely be remembered mostly for his long buzzer-beating shot to end the first half. Adam Nichols had a season-high 2 steals, and his tenacious defense made it difficult for Ball Ground to get anything going offensively. Trey Watson continued his solid play, tying season-high marks in field goals (3), steals (4), and assists. A model of consistency, Trey has scored exactly 6 points in each game thus far! Andrew Woszczynski, the team’s steals leader, set a season-high of 9, and also raised his rebounds per game average after pulling down a dozen. Even though Austin Lindquist did not set any season-high marks in this game, his 2 blocked shots in the contest helped solidify himself as the team-leader in blocks.
