Hello everyone!
In this series, we’re for the first time outside a game, taking over the role of a developer. What I want to achieve with this series is to make my dream of making my own game come true and cooperation with your ideas and coding knowledge.

To get into game making, I chose the easy-to-use Game Maker software, available on Steam as a basic or professional version, so if you don’t want to spend money on a programm, rest asured there’s a free version available as well.

In this series, we’re going to programm, create pixelart, put everything together in a nice game concept and of course also play the game!

I hope you enjoy!:)

Your Nathan

@RedstoneInnovation Firstly, thanks for the speedy reply 🙂  I have now moved the view code up to just under the for loop. But the same problem is still occuring… I have tried moving this code in various places throughout the script, but there is obviously something else at hand…. Am I meant to state the menuRoom in the activateImportantObjects script? Perhaps a quick flash of the code in the next vid will be helpful. That way I, and people that are perhaps having the same problem could just pause it, and ensure everything is correct 🙂 Thanks and sorry, I don't want to bug you about this… Im pretty sure its just me making some silly mistake XD

@yeoldjokers69 Can you please set in google+ to make people able to answer your comments? Right now there's no answer button, you have to enable it. Anyways what went wrong in your code is totally my mistake. The whole "view and port" part should be included within the "if-else" statematent. At the moment you have it executed at the bottom and it's no more related to all the other code. The view should only activate, when the else statement pops off. You know what I mean? The view-part should go one bracket more up.

Hey, I've come across quite an annoying glitch. The menuMain, is displayed perfectly in the bottom left corner. However, whenever I click on the segment to bring up the menuRooms It only displays the port (a blank white box in the just above where the menuMain is. This port is supposed to contain the objs for the menuRoom). The menuRoom objs only appear when I manoeuvre the view to the upper right side of the room, but as soon as I move away from this, they disappear again. I have watched the entire video through about 4 times, and, although I am sure I haven't made a mistake, But I bet I have… Help XD

Excellent episode! Glad to see a functional GUI, and it's easy to follow how you would add function to the additional buttons

Nice episode as always!
I am not sure that you can access GL11 rendering engine. But if you can you could make it so you make the placed rooms transparent with the same non transparent images so you don't have to duplicate every image! 🙂

I like the series so much! 😀
A little hint for the future for the createRomm script: you should choose the objects you have less because every if-checking needs extra time; but as you said it doesn't matter at the moment 😉

Wherever you have "if something = 0 { ….. somethingElse = 0 }"
and you would always change the 'somethingElse' to the if-checked something, you can just write "somethingElse = something"

so you don't have to repeat that for all of the image_index 's, and everything similar. 😀
